How a Half-Fold Brochure Works

1Printed as a Flat Sheet

Artwork is prepared at the selected open size before the brochure is folded.

2Folded Once at the Centre

One fold divides the sheet into two equal sections.

3Creates Four Panel Faces

Both-sided printing can place content on the front, back and two inside panels.

With single-sided printing, only one face of the open sheet is printed. Choose both-sided printing when content is required on all four folded panel faces.

Paper Choices

The exact paper weights available may depend on the selected open size. Follow the current Paper Type menu during ordering.

Current Indexed Default 80gsm Simili Paper

Lightweight uncoated paper that is generally suitable for brochures requiring a writable surface.

Smooth Coated Paper Art Paper

Suitable for photographs, product images and colourful marketing layouts. Select the exact gsm displayed in the calculator.

Thicker Card Option Art Card

Provides a firmer feel. Select only a weight currently available for the chosen size.

No lamination option is displayed for this product. For matte or gloss lamination, use the Economy Laminated Brochure product.

Printing Options

Full Colour – Single Sided Prints one face of the complete open sheet. The opposite face remains blank.
Full Colour – Both Sides Prints both faces of the open sheet, allowing content on all four folded panel faces.
The product calculator does not provide a separate choice between digital and offset printing. The customer-facing description should state full-colour printing.

Production Schedule

Production begins after payment, order confirmation and acceptance of complete print-ready artwork.

Artwork Cut-Off Submit Before 5:00 PM

Late, missing or incorrect artwork may move the production schedule.

After Production Allow Collection or Delivery Time

Artwork Preparation Guidelines

Prepare the brochure as one complete flat layout using the exact open size selected during ordering.

File Format and Resolution
  • PDF is the preferred print-ready format.
  • AI files may also be submitted.
  • Prepare full-colour artwork in CMYK.
  • Images should be approximately 300 DPI at final size.
  • Outline or embed all fonts.
Open Size and Flat Layout
  • Artwork must match the selected open size.
  • Prepare the complete sheet before folding.
  • Position the front, back and inside panels according to the folding template.
  • Do not submit four unrelated individual pages unless the upload instructions specifically request them.
Bleed and Safe Area
  • Add 3mm bleed on every side when backgrounds reach the trimming edge.
  • Keep important text and logos at least 3–5mm inside trim lines.
  • Keep important content at least 3–5mm away from the centre fold.
  • Avoid thin borders close to trimming or folding lines.
Fold-Line Preparation
  • Use the correct half-fold template for the selected size.
  • Do not place small text directly over the fold.
  • Large images may cross the fold, but slight alignment variation may be visible.
  • Keep any fold guides outside the printable artwork or identify them clearly as non-printing guides.
Single- and Both-Sided Files
  • Upload the front flat-layout file for single-sided printing.
  • Upload clearly labelled front and back flat-layout files for both-sided printing.
  • Check the back-side orientation before submission.
Multiple Designs
  • The selected quantity applies to one design.
  • One quantity cannot be divided among different brochure artworks.
  • Use Add Item for different artwork with the same specification and quantity.
Multiple Artwork Files
  • Combine related artwork and supporting files into one ZIP file where required.
  • Include linked images or supporting files if they are not embedded.
  • Clearly name front and back artwork.
Basic Artwork Check
  • A basic check may cover size, margins, bleed, colour setup and fold placement.
  • It is not a design, layout or proofreading service.
  • Customers remain responsible for text, prices, dates, contact information and QR codes.
