How the Roll Tri-Fold Works

Step 1 Printed as One Flat Sheet

Artwork is prepared at the complete selected open size.

Step 2 Inner Panel Folds Inward

The inward-folding panel may be slightly narrower so the brochure can close correctly.

Step 3 Outer Panel Closes Over It

The result is three panels per side and up to six printed panel faces when both-sided printing is selected.

This product is different from a Z-fold brochure. A Z-fold opens like an accordion with panels folding in alternating directions.

Open and Approximate Folded Sizes

Open size is the complete landscape sheet before folding. Folded dimensions are approximate because the inward panel may be slightly narrower.

Printing Options

Full Colour – Single Sided Prints one face of the complete flat sheet, creating three printed panel faces. The reverse remains blank.
Full Colour – Both Sides Prints both faces of the flat sheet, providing up to six printed panel faces after folding.
The calculator does not offer a customer-selectable choice between offset and digital printing. The public description should simply state full-colour printing.

Artwork Preparation Guidelines

Prepare each printed side as one complete flat three-panel layout using the correct size template.

File Format and Resolution
  • PDF is the preferred print-ready format.
  • AI files may also be submitted.
  • Prepare full-colour artwork in CMYK.
  • Use images of approximately 300 DPI at final size.
  • Outline or embed all fonts.
Three-Panel Flat Layout
  • Prepare one continuous flat layout containing all three panels.
  • Position the front cover, back cover and inward flap according to the template.
  • Do not assume that all three panel widths are identical.
  • Avoid submitting six separate pages unless specifically requested.
Bleed and Safe Area
  • Add 3mm bleed on every outer edge when backgrounds extend to the trimming edge.
  • Keep important text and logos 3–5mm inside trim lines.
  • Keep important content 3–5mm away from fold lines.
  • Avoid thin borders close to trimming or folding lines.
Fold-Line Preparation
  • Use the exact fold positions shown in the template.
  • Keep small text, QR codes and logos away from fold lines.
  • Images may cross a fold, but minor alignment variation can be visible.
  • Fold guides must be removed from printable artwork or clearly identified as non-printing guides.
Single- and Both-Sided Files
  • Upload one flat-layout file for single-sided printing.
  • Upload clearly labelled outside and inside layouts for both-sided printing.
  • Check the panel sequence and back orientation before submission.
Artwork Submission Time
  • Upload complete artwork before 5:00 PM for the selected production schedule.
  • Late, incomplete or incorrect files may delay production.
  • Include the order number when sending artwork after checkout.
Multiple Designs
  • The minimum quantity applies to each design.
  • One quantity cannot be divided among several different brochure artworks.
  • Use Add Item for another design with the same specifications and quantity.
Basic Artwork Check
  • A basic check may cover size, bleed, margins, colour setup and fold positioning.
  • It is not a design, layout or proofreading service.
  • Customers remain responsible for text, prices, dates, contact details and QR codes.
