The selected background option determines the contrasting metallic appearance visible in the engraved design areas.

Cooler Metallic Contrast Silver Background

Creates a silver-toned contrast against the matte black card surface for logos, names and supplied line artwork.

Warmer Metallic Contrast Gold Background

Creates a gold-toned contrast against the matte black card surface for a warmer premium appearance.

Silver and gold refer to the selected engraved background effect. They should not be described as full-colour printing or foil stamping.

Contact Details Telephone numbers, email addresses and website details.

Line Patterns Patterns that meet the minimum line and spacing guidelines.
Laser engraving is not photographic full-colour printing. Gradients, shadows and complex colour effects must be simplified into engraving-compatible artwork.

Same Artwork and Variable Personalisation

Standard Order Same Artwork on Every Card

The minimum quantity applies to one repeated artwork, such as one company card design or one fixed QR code.

Separate Quotation Different Names, Numbers or QR Codes

Individual names, serial numbers or different QR codes require variable-data preparation and should be confirmed before ordering.

Do not upload a spreadsheet and assume personalisation is included in the standard price. Obtain confirmation for the data format, quantity, artwork setup and production schedule first.

Metal Card Handling and Care

Durable Metal Construction More rigid and substantial than conventional paper cards.
Black Coating Can Scratch Avoid contact with keys, sharp objects and abrasive surfaces.
Store Carefully Keep the cards clean and dry to preserve their appearance.
The card should not be described as scratch-proof or indestructible. Surface wear may occur during handling, transport or storage.

Artwork Preparation Guidelines

Submit clean print-ready artwork using the exact size selected in the product calculator.

Recommended File Formats
  • PDF is the preferred final artwork format.
  • AI files may also be uploaded.
  • Vector artwork is recommended for logos, text and line graphics.
  • Place multiple supporting files into one ZIP file when necessary.
Size and Safe Area
  • Artwork must match the exact size selected during ordering.
  • Bleed is not required for the metal card.
  • Keep important content at least 2–3mm away from every edge.
  • Avoid borders or text positioned very close to the card edge.
Fonts and Line Thickness
  • Convert all fonts to outlines.
  • Alternatively, embed fonts correctly before exporting the file.
  • Use a minimum line thickness of approximately 0.3pt.
  • Avoid extremely small text or closely spaced engraving lines.
Engraving Artwork Design
  • Use clean solid vector shapes where possible.
  • Simplify gradients, shadows and photographic effects.
  • Remove unnecessary overlapping or duplicated paths.
  • Clearly identify which elements must be engraved.
Front and Back Files
  • Upload the front artwork in the corresponding front artwork field.
  • Where back engraving is selected, upload a separate clearly labelled back file.
  • Check the back orientation before submission.
  • Suggested filenames: MetalCard-Front.pdf and MetalCard-Back.pdf.
QR Code Guidelines
  • Use a clear, high-contrast QR code.
  • Do not reduce the QR code excessively.
  • Maintain sufficient clear space around the code.
  • Test the final supplied QR code before submitting the artwork.
  • Variable QR codes require separate confirmation.
Basic Technical File Check
  • Image Magic may perform a basic check for size, margins, artwork clarity and contrast.
  • The check is not a design, layout or proofreading service.
  • Customers remain responsible for names, telephone numbers, spelling and QR-code content.
Before Approving Production
  • Confirm the selected card size.
  • Confirm silver or gold background.
  • Confirm the required engraving sides.
  • Check all names and contact details.
