Content Paper and Printing Options

The current standard content paper is Conservation FSC 104 gsm.

Reading-Order PDF Arrange the artwork from the first page to the last page, not as imposed printer spreads.
FSC 140 gsm content paper is not shown in the current direct-order selection. Use 104 gsm in the standard description.

Artwork Preparation Guidelines

Submit complete print-ready artwork matching the selected size, page count and printing options.

File Format and Page Order
  • PDF is the preferred print-ready format.
  • AI or PSD artwork may also be supplied when required.
  • Submit one complete multi-page PDF where possible.
  • Arrange pages in normal reading order from the front cover to the back cover.
  • Do not impose pages or create printer spreads.
  • Include every required blank page in its correct position.
Page Count Requirements
  • The total page count includes all cover and content pages.
  • Saddle-stitch booklets require page counts in multiples of four.
  • The standard product starts from eight pages.
  • Ensure the uploaded PDF page count matches the selected product option.
  • Add blank pages where necessary to complete a valid multiple-of-four page count.
Bleed and Safe Area
  • Add 3 mm bleed on all sides where artwork extends to the trimmed edge.
  • Extend backgrounds and edge-to-edge images fully through the bleed area.
  • Keep text, logos and page numbers at least 5 mm inside the finished edge.
  • Keep important content clear of the centre fold and staple area.
  • Avoid placing small text directly across the centre fold.
Colour, Resolution and Fonts
  • Prepare printed artwork in CMYK colour mode.
  • Images should be approximately 300 dpi at their final printed size.
  • Convert fonts to outlines or embed them correctly.
  • Embed all linked images before exporting the final file.
  • Printed colours may differ from colours displayed on a backlit monitor.
Basic Technical File Check
  • Image Magic may perform a basic technical check for size, page count, bleed and print readiness.
  • The check is not a design, layout, proofreading or content-correction service.
  • Customers remain responsible for spelling, dates, page numbers, prices and publication content.
  • Incorrect or incomplete files may delay the listed production schedule.
Before Approving Production
  • Confirm the selected size and orientation.
  • Confirm the total page count and quantity.
  • Confirm the cover and content colour options.
  • Check every page in normal reading order.
  • Check company names, dates, page numbers, telephone numbers and QR codes.
  • Confirm that the selected product uses saddle stitching rather than perfect binding.
